Overview

GeoCode Forge is a browser extension that assists users with geocoding and code-related tasks using AI services. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and with whom it is shared.

Data We Collect

GeoCode Forge stores the following data locally on your device only (via Chrome's local storage):

AI API keys entered by the user
Plugin configuration settings (e.g., selected AI model, language preference)
Conversation session history
User-entered text, prompts, and code snippets submitted during conversations

GeoCode Forge does not collect any personal information such as your name, email address, browsing history, or location data.

How We Use Your Data

API Keys: Used solely to authenticate requests to the AI service provider you have selected. API keys are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to any server operated by GeoCode Forge.
Conversation Content: When you send a message, your input text is transmitted to the third-party AI service you configured (see "Data Sharing with Third Parties" below) to generate a response. This data is not stored on any server controlled by GeoCode Forge.
Configuration Settings: Used locally to customize your experience within the extension.

Data Sharing with Third Parties

To provide AI-powered features, GeoCode Forge sends your conversation content (including any text, code, or prompts you enter) to the third-party AI service provider you choose to configure. These providers may include:

OpenAI — Privacy Policy
Anthropic — Privacy Policy
Google (Gemini) — Privacy Policy
Alibaba Cloud (Qwen) — Privacy Policy
Ollama (local) — When using Ollama, data is processed locally on your machine and is not sent to any external server.

Note: Data sent to these third-party services is governed by their respective privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. GeoCode Forge only transmits data when you actively initiate a conversation, and only to the single provider you have selected.

Other than the above, GeoCode Forge does not sell, share, or transfer any user data to any other third parties.

Data Storage and Security

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage APIs.
No data is collected or stored on any remote server operated by GeoCode Forge.
You can delete all stored data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension's storage through Chrome settings.

User Control and Data Deletion

You have full control over your data:

You can view and delete your conversation history within the extension.
You can remove or change your API keys at any time.
Uninstalling the extension will remove all locally stored data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
